This one-day course is essential for health care providers who are planning and providing care for individuals requiring a urinary catheter. It also provides helpful revision for qualified nurses responsible for over – seeing effective continence management. Although it is a common procedure, it carries many risks and is a significant cause of healthcare acquired infections.

This course is designed to demonstrate:

Anatomy and physiology of the urinary system
The risk of urinary catheterisation
Indications for catheterisation
Assessment of the individual
Legal issues, consent and documentation
Infection prevention and control
Catheter related equipment
Catheter care
Lubrication
The classes involves simulations, lecture, and evaluative assessments. Experienced trainers will provide a hands-on approach in instruction.

Please note with groups of 5 or more we could create a class any day starting as early as 9am and ending as late as 9pm.

Prerequisite:
Students must be Registered Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses or other healthcare professions which practice
(Catheterization Care) within their scope of work.
